First 100 subscribers on YouTube and 400% Growth!
We’ve been online now for about 8 months and we are learning new things every day about YouTube and how to grow. There are all sorts of videos online about “How to get your first 100 subs” and the “get 100 subs fast” tricks, but we’ve found that getting to our first 100 subscribers on YouTube wasn’t so simple.
How we got our first 100 subscribers on YouTube
It actually took us a lot longer than we would’ve liked to get to 100 subscribers. We had been posting videos for 5 months before we got to 100 subs! It’s true though that the first 100 really are the hardest… After that it really does start to get easier and you do start to see a little bit of the “snowball effect”.
Our main promotional strategy was to post videos to Facebook and ask people to subscribe. Something we changed a few months in (that I don’t talk about in the video) is we added a part to the beginning of our videos where I say “If you like what you see in this video, please consider subscribing.”
I think that by saying that upfront early in the video, it is fresh on people’s minds to be aware of the content and they are thinking about subscribing. I also mention subscribing again at the end of the video and I think that has been helping a lot.
How we grew by 400%
Our first 100 subs took 5 months to gain, but we gained another 100 subs (200 in total now) in the next month – 400% growth! I’ve noticed two big keys that have helped us grow, and they are both very simple…
We started to post more consistently. As of writing this article, we are posting 3 videos a week. When we first started we were posting 1 video or maybe 2 videos per week if we were lucky… Posting more consistently has helped us grow faster on YouTube and it makes sense… We are giving YouTube more opportunities to share our videos.
Time is also a factor. In the video you’ll see how some of our videos have taken MONTHS to finally gain momentum on YouTube. Be patient!
How to revive old videos that aren’t getting views
In the video, you’ll also learn about how we are able to revive old videos that weren’t getting many views. The 3 main things you can do to help give old videos a boost are:
- Change the Thumbnail
- Change the Title/Description
- Change the Tags
Doing these three things have helped many of our old videos come to life! Give it a try on some of your old videos.
TubeBuddy is a game changer!
We also started using a program called TubeBuddy which is a YouTube tool that helps you organize, edit, and plan your videos. There are a ton of awesome free tools and you can pay a small fee to get more tools and features.
